With a Level 4 specialism, you’ll gain a deep understand of your chosen medical condition and how to effectively program physical activities for effected clients. Combined with your Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification, this course will enable you to become an exercise specialist, working on referral schemes to help clients who have low back pain. The aim of this qualification is to provide the learner with the appropriate knowledge and skills to design, deliver, monitor and evaluate structured, individualised physical activity programmes for adults with low back pain, in accordance with current evidence-based guidelines.

Programming Physical Activities for Individuals with Low Back Pain
You will be able to understand how to risk stratify individuals with low back pain before participating in exercise. You will be able to gather the necessary information to plan safe and effective exercise programmes, set SMART goals and design a progressive physical activity programme with wide-ranging lifestyle advice included. You will learn how to conduct reviews and adapt your programme.
Instructing Physical Activity for Individuals with Low Back Pain
You will learn how to prepare a safe and effective training environment, and will gain enhanced instruction skills to cue, motivate, progress and regress clients who low back pain. You will learn how to analyse the effectiveness of your sessions in the context of the overall programme and goals of your client.
Principles and Epidemiology of Low Back Pain
You will be able to define low back pain, deferentiate between NSLBP and specific spinal pathology definitions. You will gain enhanced knowledge of the anatomy and physiology associated to Low Back Pain, identifying its common causes and understand the national statistics on the prevalence of low back pain to society. You will understand the risk and causative factors involved in the development of low back pain, and will be able to utilise the national guidelines for the treatment and management of low back pain.
